Slide/Cornell/Wittenberg
Climbed Slide Mt the LONG way from Phoenicia via the Romer Mountain Trail, over Wittenberg, Cornell, and down the more standard Slide Mt Trail. 16 miles, 5000' of gain, and a car shuttle.

Nice hike from Denning trailhead
from Denning trailhead and Curtis & Ormsby trail. Met few if any folks along the way until the Curtis & Ormsby trail met up with the main trail going up the mountain i.e. the last .75 mile. From there many folks were encountered as is to be expected for a Sat hike on a bluebird day.
Beautiful views of the Table / Peekamoose Ridge are to be had through the bare trees along the Phoenicia East Branch trail just beyond the junction to Table & Peekamoose Mtns

Legit Hike!!!!!
We started at the eastern parking lot and bagged Slide with Cornell and Whittenburg, and then continued down the west side and then looped around through the Panther Mountain trail head. Holy moly there was a lot of people at the Panther Mountain trail head. Everyone was going to Giant Ledge so after the intersection we continued straight and the people disappeared. It seemed like there was tons of downhill! It never seemed to end! Right at the end of the hike there is a super steep uphill just when you think you can cruise to the car. It is super steep, but after that it is an easy downhill. This hike was awesome! Technical in some spots, and good views, what more can you ask for. Probably 15 miles with around 5,000ft of elevation gain and lost.

From West Side
Took the easy way up, but continued over to Cornell and Wittenberg. Awful foggy day with no views, but we made the most of it.
We combined Wittenberg, Cornell and Slide into a nice weekend loop. We camped between Slide and Cornell. A great time in a great part of the Catskills!!

A Quick Trip
Started at the Woodland Campground Trailhead taking the Wittenberg-Cornell-Slide trail late Friday night and made it only a mile or so up the trail. Spent the night off of the trail. Started early Saturday morning and made it to Wittenberg, Cornell, and Slide and back to the car in just over three hours. Quite a bit of traffic on the trail.

Trail run up/down slide
Used the trailhead from the west, got on Slide-Cornell-Wittneburg trail. After the summit, worked my way almost to col between Slide and Cornell, then ran back. Gorgeous day, temps in mid 60's no humidity. Great views on ledge just before summit! Overall fun day!
From trailhead to summit took just under 43 mins.

Great
The cold snap finally broke so great time to strap on snowshoes and hit the trail. Great day weather wise used like 4 diifferent trails. Pretty good workout and fun time.
Hiked again 7/14/17 as you know this is one of Catskill 35ers that must be done twice once in summer and once in winter for entry into club. I was going to combine with cornel and Wittenberg but unfortunatly not enough time.

Miserable
A wintery mix made for a miserably cold and wet hike with no views, but one more mountain under the belt.

Slide Mtn Trail
Hiked the standard Slide Mountain Trail with my dad. Nice fall color.
While climbing Slide yesterday 9/28/13, I accidentally left my camera on a rock near the beginning of the trail up to the Brothers, near the Garden parking lot. Went back a few min later when I realized and it was already gone. If you have it Id love to get it back. Please call 518 424 5866. Thanks

No snowshoes
There was hardly any snow on the drive up but it ran about 1-2 ft deep at the trailhead. The trail was well worn by hikers so snowshoes were not necessary. Crampons would have been nice since a few sections were compacted steep snow and pretty slippery.
