"As an adolescent I aspired to lasting fame, I craved factual certainty, and I thirsted for a meaningful vision of human life - so I became a scientist. This is like becoming an archbishop so you can meet girls."

Friendship trailI had slept in Sklarska Poreba and hiked up Szrenica mountain (passing a nice waterfall on the way). I then followed the Polish-Czech friendship trail and spent the night in the very nice Samotnia hut. Then went on to summit Sniezka the next day. A bit cold but nice weather on the way up. Went down along the valley to Karpacz.

Pec Pod Snezkou to SummitAvoided the Obri Dul route due to avalanche risk, instead took the path north from Pec Pod Snezkou through the forest. Beared west after the first major clearing to follow the Yellow Waymarked trail. Lost the trail at the Ruzova Hora cable car due to poor visibility and deep fresh snow so followed the cables till about 50m from the summit. We were able to rejoin the (frozen) path and continue to the summit. Excellent hike!

Finally Czech Summitfinally got a chance to climb the highest point of my country. Weather was so so, visibility approx 10m, but no rain, just few showers. However was pretty crowded. The walk: Spindlerova Bouda - Snezka - Lucni Bouda - Sv. Petr..good 25km on bad weather, have to come back, thats for sure :-)

60 kilometres raceI participated in the race from Pomezni boudy, where we started at 5:11 a. m., still at night. At 6:35 I got to the summit of Snezka, under huge south winds and in a cloud. The race continued via the main ridge of Krkonosze until the Ceska budka trail junction, then it turned south to the saddle of Lysa hora, to Dvoracky, Rucicky, Vilemov, Korenov, Hvezda, Stepanka outlook with the finish in the village Paseky nad Jizerou. There was no snow on the trail.

Obri dulI climbed this back in 1997 when I lived in the Czech Republic. I was back for a few months last year but unable to return to Snezka. Beautiful part of the country.

My SnežkaIs very nice to find this mountain here. I was there several times (in former time every year on school trips) because Snežka is the highest mountain in my country.I like the route from Obrí dul.
