Snow Covered Angels Landing

Snow Covered Angels Landing

The north face and final stretch of the trail up Angels Landing on January 28, 2010. The snow covering was beautiful, but it did make the climbing a bit tricky. There was one particular steep spot where the lack of easy holds (no chains!), soft slippery snow, and exposure had me a bit nervous. I was by myself for most of the way past Scout Lookout, but a party of about 15 had been up top before me, and I passed 2 other 2 person parties coming down; one of them turned around before the summit, while I believe the other made it up. This was my first trip up Angels, so I don't know how my snowy ascent compares to a dry one, but it was certainly exciting.

Nice photo; needs caption

That's one of the best photos of Angels Landing I've ever seen. A caption would make it even better. How was the climb up there with all the snow?

Thanks! As is usually the case nature did 99% of the work...white snow on red rock is something special, the scenery that day was awesome.
