One hour and fifty minutes to the top. There were some Amish girls climbing that day. Great weather.
Hiked sometime in November, should have at the very least had micro spikes and poles. Was visiting from other side of the country and brought neither. Cool tower, but was fogged in so no views. Extremely icy, but made it in and out ok.
Snowy Mt was one I planned on hiking for years and years...finally made it! Mellow hike in and then the trail got progressively steeper, but before I knew it I was at a nice lookout just below the summit. I took a trail across the clearing and found another neat lookout over a cliff. Retraced my steps and took the correct trail to the fire tower. Nice 3 1/2 hour hike up and back with 25 minutes on the summit. The tower, as well as the lookouts, had great views. Beautiful fall day, glad I finally made time to get up here.
Nice climb but it was a typical fogged in summit day on the top. No view but certainly a neat summit to explore the various ledges and fire tower.
The first peak I ever summited; I can't believe the fire it sparked.
Climbed this with my bf this past July when we were on vacation in the Adirondacks. Perfect day to go with clear views in all directions. I had a pretty bad slip on a log during the trek up (probably due to all the mud on my shoes) and got a nice big bruise that turned many colors before finally healing. Worth the trip though! Had a great lunch at a lookout point just below the peak.
Climbed this with my family in summer 2010. Great views and weather!
Climbed via the trail from Route 30. Execrable for much of the morning – a breeze along the summit provided some relief. Spectacular views, especially to the north; most of the major high peaks were visible.
My sister and I had a great time hiking this peak on a beautiful summer day with lots of visibility. The view of the High Peaks from the top of the fire tower was majestic and the overlook above Indian lake was gorgeous.
We did it at a fairly quick pace with a round trip time of just under 4 hours which included some time for pictures and snacks at the top. It's a shame that this mountain doesn't get as much recognition as the 46'ers because it definitely deserves it!
Had a nice afternoon hike with two friends and their dog. Great views from the fire tower!
...despite the trail being pretty wet. Memorial Day weekend and still only saw maybe three other groups the whole day.
Loved this mountain, last mile with the snow was a fun challenge. it was super snowy but the view from the firetower was still awesome!
Great views, good summit, nice looks into the ADK High Peaks.
good day ... traversed some of the face too.
Chipmunks by the dozens on the lower trail. Trail washed out near summit, Ledge below summit has good views of Indian Lake. Fire tower restored with great views in all directions, you can see three other towers on Blue, Wakely, Pillsbury.
Good day trip. Usually not crowded. Fine camping possibilities at the top if you are so inclined.
Day before fire lookout conference at Newcomb, glad to report tower newly restored
Drove up from Johnsonville to tackle this one. Great mountain with some challenge towards the top. Excellent views of the rest of the Adirondacks. Stayed on top for about an hour checking out all the viewpoints with some Saranac "trail mix" and oatmeal cookies.
Great Peak fun to climb never gets old. last 1/4 mile was tough.
If you are ever in the area go and climb it, you won't regret it.
Set out for another sunrise climb of Snowy, purely by coincidence on the anniversary of my first ascent of Snowy. Wonderful views this time; 4 hours round trip.
