bike & hike from Scharnitz  Sucess!

nice 2-day-trip that I can only recommend with using a bike: we started on bicycles at Scharnitz on the main Karwendel route into Hinterau valley but branched off to Gleirschtal valley and further on to Kristenalm pasture. Shortly behind that pasture the hking part started with the ascent to Solsteinhaus. After lunch there we climbed Großer and Kleiner Solstein. Some clouds but generally weather was fine. We stayed the night at Solsteinhaus, climbed Erlspitze the next morning, descended to our bikes - and we would have been cought by a terrible thunderstorm if we did not spare at least two hours with the bicycle downhill.

Traverse Großer to Kleiner Solstein via Solsteinhaus  Sucess!

A days hike from Hochzirl via Solsteinhaus, Großer and Kleiner Solstein, descent on the same way. Just perfect autumn weather with clear sky, great views and nice and warm sun.

Via Solsteinhaus from Hochzirl  Sucess!

We got off the train at 9am and raced up to Grosser Solstein in 4h. After enjoying the splendid views we started to go to Kleiner Solstein but then we realized that this is quite a long distance and decided to stop our ascent here. After this decision we had a long break and were back at Hochzirl at 5pm and back in Munich at 8:30. I haven' t had such great summit views for a while...
