Sonntagspitze summit panorama to the northwest

The snow filled basin is the remains of the Glötter Glacier. It's as good as gone, and the only reason it still looks like the real thing is that there had been a lot of snow earlier in 2013, which persisted well into summer. The impressive collection of summits in the center are Chlein Seehorn, Winterberg, Gross Seehorn and Großlitzner. For us, today at least, the important feature is the high pass right of center. That's the Litzner Sattel, and on the other side the Saarbrücker Hütte await us. 24 July 2013.
