Looks like the freeway of love on "Da Hood". Most of my family lives in Sandy. This mountain has provided us all with a lot of entertainment, but above Timberline is a ZOO!
Sandy is a neat area. I have a daughter who lives near Sherwood so I get to the Portland area fairly regularly and from time to time I take the drive up through Sandy and drive the backway to Hood River. Nice drive and great scenery.
looks like SD traffic afterwork on Mondays.
The key is to avoid Hood on May & June weekends.
I have never seen the hogsback that crowded. It also seems a bit dangerous to have that many on the mountain. Great shot Dean.
Thanks Scott, it was an interesting experience. Conditions were interesting too.
Is this the alaskan gold rush?
Mt. Hood is best avoided on holidays. Of course, the best time to climb Mt. Hood is around this time of the year.
It gets this crowded? I feel quite lucky to have gone when I went which there was only a handful of climbers that day.
Memorial Day is always crowded like this if there is good weather. It was actually fun to be part of the "parade" since most of the peaks I hit are devoid of people.
Sure, the mountain was nearly empty, but it was late July and extremely icy. I was alone--well equipped, but at the Pearly Gates I thought about my family far away and made the right call. 10/10 great picture
