From Crystal Lake to Windy Gap, then over Hawkins Ridge. Cold.
Came down from Windy Gap and Hawkins Ridge. Be a lot nicer if the lookout was still here. Lots of fog and clouds all day hanging around the mountains. Felt like a long walk back on the fire road
Up the fire road to South Hawkins followed by Sadie Hawkins and wrapping up with Middle Hawkins returned by Windy Gap.
Great views of Crystal Lake area from here!
Part of 5-peak traverse of the Hawkins Ridge from Dawson Saddle. #5 in sequence (counting Sadie Hawkins as #4).
Hit all Hawkins with some of the SEEING TRAILS HIKE GANG via windy gap. Fun hike - fair amount of elevation gain.
Picture perfect weather. Surprised at how much snow was left from the previous week's storm.
Did this as a backpacking trip with my buddy from the Crystal lake campground. Saw a rattlesnake in that campground.
We wanted to proceed to Mt Hawkins from there in the morning but did not have determination.
Came up the steep fire break on Pigeon Ridge. Some cross country from end of fire break to S. Hawkins east ridge. Took east ridge to summit. Great way to bag S. Hawkins.
did this as part of hike from crystal lake up islip and along the fire road. i'd suggest combining it with the other hawkins's and windy gap, as that is the most picturesque part of the whole hike in my opinion. fire road is hot and super exposed.
Up from Crystal Lake on the fire road to the summit. Crossed paths with Mars Bonfire on the top.
With Islip, Hawkins, Middle Hawkins & Sadie Hawkins
Windy Gap Trail to Mt. Islip and then PCT to Hawkins Ridge, Middle Hawkins and South Mt. Hawkins. Perfect day!
with Middle Hawkins. beware the poodle dog bush!
