Parking area for the South Ridge route The beginning of the old road
A view of the beginning of the road from the ridge
From the parking lot follow the old, overgrown, road that heads north. The road will switchback across a small wash and begin heading southwest. The road will begin to climb higher until it reaches the south ridge. Here the trail comes to a "T" with another trail leading down the ridge. You will want to turn sharply to the right heading up the ridge. The ridge will gradually get steeper as you continue north towards the summit.
Sharp right turn: Leaving the road onto the ridge trail The trail heading up the south ridge Rough rocky section Final push to the summit
There are a few rough rocky sections where the trail will disappear. The trail will continue immediately after the rocky parts. Continue along this ridge trail to the summit.
Looking down the south ridge at the upper portion of the route
Typical gear for a short hike. Trekking poles may be helpful for the upper portion since it is steep and has a lot of loose rock.
