A long trek  Sucess!

The road was closed so I had to start from the end of the pavement. It was kinda cold in the shade, wasn't too much snow. Maybe an inch at the top, a few more along the way in the shaded parts. Tons of deer out there

nice!  Sucess!

with Wasatch Mountain Club group. Dry but fairly windy day - could see the smoke plume of the Pole Creek wildfire on the horizon. Also ascended "Pocket Peak" next peak south along the crest.

Quick Bag  Sucess!

Having grown up in Tooele, I have seen South Willow Peak everyday for most of my life. It took me til this year to bag this one. Headed out with my brother in law from the trailhead at eight in the morning. Saw one other person the whole hike and only from a distance. Very windy up on the ridge. Unfortunately it was a hazy day so the views weren't as far-reaching. Great peak to bag if you don't have a lot of time. We were up and down in less than 4.5 hours.

Fruit Loop  Sucess!

We did a loop of South Willow and Deseret while eating lots of fruit, so we named the adventure, the Fruit Loop. It is probably the worst name ever. Anyway, this is a fun hike when you're in the need for some solitude. Lots of trees on the Deseret side and great views all around. Would hike again.

South and North Willow Peak  Sucess!

Climbed this P1K along with North Willow and Deseret. Fun loop hike hitting Deseret first via the Mill Fork trail, then traversing over to South and North Willow and then dropping down Pockets Fork.

After DP, of course  Sucess!

#1 10-9-10 With JohnParley following a pleasant trek over Deseret Peak. There wasn't any discernible trail from the Pockets Fork saddle. #2 10-25-14 With Dave & Brent. The high wind warning for Utah's western deserts was surely no more evident than it was for us as we knocked off Deseret, this and North Willow. Often we could barely stand erect without risking our lives. At least it wasn't cold... :) IVD #3 10-21-16 W/ Lana. DP first, sketchy snow on the steep switchbacks between DP summit and the 1st saddle to the north. Gorgeous autumn day with some wind. #4 9-8-17 w/ Brent & Lana. Following Deseret Peak. Only 10 mph winds today and scattered clouds.

Nice hike  Sucess!

Second climb of this peak. We were training for Mount Whitney Mountaineers Route and were going to climb the twin couliors on Deseret, but a recent snow made the avalanche conditions pretty iffy. We decided to climb South Willow instead

First summit on combination with North Willow (locals call it North and South Medina Peaks) in October of 2009

Wandering and Wondering in South Willow  Sucess!

Having started our hike in the dark my son Andy and I missed the sign to Deseret Peak (our original destination) and ended up on the trail to South Willow Lake. When we got to Pockets Fork we made the best of the situation and hiked South Willow Peak. Thankful for our mistake we now can say we've hiked it.
