Scramblin' Beauties  Sucess!

For the "notch", the 4th class route is looker's right of the notch when climbing the SE Ridge towards the Audubon summit. We looked around for a while to see if there was a route that would keep the hike at 3rd class, and in order to do so one would have to bail on the ridge towards the south well before the notch. To climb the ridge and notch is certainly 4th class by the easiest route.

This loop provided an excellent day of 3rd class scrambling close to the Front Range: SE ridge Audubon > Paiute Peak > Mt Toll.

Solo sojourn  Sucess!

Quick trip up after securing a camp-site for the weekend. Traversed to Paiute and then down to Blue Lake.

Solo hike  Sucess!

Climbed solo on a nice day. I missed out on the excitement by going downclimbers left off the ridge proper with some easy class 3 moves. I watched others hit the correct descent route. Tim, we'll have to go back and do it again with Paiute.

Birthday Solo Hike...  Sucess!

This is a great route on a gentle mountain. A heavy snow year made things a little more interesting. I didn't think the downclimb was too bad...I'm a tall guy so I was able to descend facing outwards and just stretch my legs out to decent foot holds. There was a huge cornice accross the notch. The climbing above the notch was the hardest for me since there were several cornices that blocked the route and made it much more difficult. All in all a great way to spend a Birthday.

Snowy Solo=Stupid  Sucess!

I wouldn't have tried that one solo without the class 3 rating. So thank you. But we should really bump this route to class 4 even though the only section is that "Notch" down-climb. Maybe I missed the best route, but finally found a way to the climber's (descender's) right of the overhang after checking 3 different possibilities. Scary solo. I want to check that one out again when the snow and ice melts. Maybe get Paiute in there too.

Girls in Mountains  Sucess!

Climbed w/mjp. Mostly a walkup. The way we descended the notch was not 3rd class, more like 5th class. Fun day out in the mountains with a neat lady.
