Rough Approach  Sucess!

We had a bit of drama on approach and bushwacked through stickers then opted to climb directly up the left side of Starr King's SW chute...this was NOT Class 3! Good warm-up for the SE face anyway. Terrific granite!
Best part of the trail was crossing the Illouette without shoes - thigh deep refreshment.

Great day  Sucess!

Such fun!

Difficulty depends on the quality of your footwear.

Party of four, wait, six  Sucess!

Agree with Dan this felt like low angle 5.6 wandering and broken into three short pitches with Amy, Maria, Leigh, John and Ron. We were off route a bit. Beautiful dome, beautiful summit.

April 2012  Sucess!

My girlfriend and I climbed the SE saddle approaching from Glacier Point to avoid swimming in the monstrous Illouette. The bypass from the footbridge at Illouette Falls to the trail junction with the Mono Meadow trail took a while but was hopefully faster than looping around on the Panorama Trail. The slabs were almost entirely dry on the gulley approach and were great for conquering my fear of slab "soloing". Both the climb and the rappel were super smooth and it was a great - if not ridiculously long - day. We were surprised to be the first to sign the register in 2012 as conditions and weather are all perfect for Starr King!

SE Saddle  Sucess!

SE Saddle from Mono Meadow with Seth. First summit register entry of 2007! On rappel we found one of the fixed pitons to be very loose, so we traversed to climbers right to an alternate rappel station. Afterwards we camped on the middle summit enjoying perfect summer-like weather.
