Good Long Day
Without getting lost on approach, Jim and I made a fine ascent of The Thumb via rock hopping, 45 degree snow climb, and lots of cow crap. Beautiful day at 13K'!

great views above the smoke
The north side of Birch Lake makes for a more enjoyable approach than the loose south side. Several stone windbreaks near the lake's outlet make good bivy spots.
