This photo of Pikes Peak is taken from near Goldfield, Colorado, near the better-known mining (and now gambling) town of Cripple Creek. This photo shows the Southwest side of Pikes, a rarely seen aspect. Like all other vantages on Pikes Peak, this particular vantage point offers a completely different take on the famous mountain, and shows the rugged, southern Pikes Peak massif. Photo taken April 8, 2006.
