With Gimpilator  Sucess!

Begrudgingly made the summit :) After Mac and Surprise, this was a less than pleasurable traverse across buff. Beautiful views though!

Mac, Surprise, Spark Plug  Sucess!

I did not enjoy the route from Peiper Pass. Steep duff is a hassle when you're tired.

During loop scramble  Sucess!

Date is a guess, think it was mid-July sometime in last decade. Included this on a loop hiking/scramble trip, first up to Thunder Mtn Lakes, then over to Surprise Gap, then to Spark Plug.

Wonderful views  Sucess!

I started hiking along deception creek and setup camp 3 miles in. Three of us then hiked up to deception lake, then to Peiper pass. there was a faint trail to the left at the pass, which we assumed was Spark plug. One friend turned back as he was fearful of his dog on near the steep sections. My friend and I continued on, we lost the trail and had to back track and get back up on the ridge. Once we did that it wasn't too bad, although it isn't the easiest scramble. We weren't sure if it was the next summit or not, they both looked about the same height. Fortunately it was the 2nd summit we hit, awesome views and from what was on the registry, we were the only two so far for 2010. Total of 21 miles hiking for the day.

Well Worth It!!!  Sucess!

This mountain climb is not for beginners, and I wouldn't recommend attempting it in wet conditions (due to steep slopes of loose dirt and rock). It was a great feeling of accomplishment when I reached the summit. Wonderful views!!!
I was only the ninth person to reach the summit this year (2008), according to the summit register. I was amused to find an actual spark plug in the summit register.
