Re: The fungus among us ...Indeed they are! I saw at least 15 species during my hike. I'm guessing that the heavy rainfall that the Smokies get has a lot to do with the proliferation of fungi.

Spindle CoralGreat Pic, I believe this is a Coral Fungus called Spindle Coral.
