Splattski style pic

Splattski style pic

Yesterday, on a remote western Utah desert peak, Conger Peak, another "splattski" pic was taken on the summit. SP member Greg and myself were the participants and you can tell by our smiles that we not only enjoyed getting this rarely visited and remote summit (only two other register entries in 5 years), we were enjoying the aspect of taking a "splattski" style pic. Steve, what have you started? Oh yes, the orange hats were our "protection" against the opening day of rifle hunting season in Utah. We passed a few hunters on the way into the peak but saw none in the area we went into. 10-17-09

Re: Yeah ...

Cabela's sells a lot of these colored hats at this time of year. I have a Cabela's just two miles from where I live in Lehi so I have access to unlimited orange hats.

LOL...

Great pic Dean! What I think people don't understand is this "splattski" picture of yours took extreme concentration and skill! Hopefully one day I'll have the ability to pull off such a pic. :-)

BTW, that orange hat came in handy the next day in the Wah Wah's-Thanks!

Re: LOL...

Thanks Greg, you are so right about the skill and extreme concentration. I had to take two to get it right. Of course, your presence is what made this one a success, you were cheering me on as I made the "splattski" effort work. I'm glad the hat kept the hunters from mistaking you for a deer.

Re: LOL...

Seems a person can never be too careful these
days, especially during deer and elk season.

Actually, "deer liver" IS a delicacy when
cooked over a low flame with sweet red onions.

After I get the "duffersitz" down, I'll have
to work on my "splattski" maneuver.

Excellent work, Dean!

Re: LOL...

Thank you Larry, it is humbling to get such recognition for this new found skill. Now if I could only make myself look about 40 years younger.

Nice!

But Dean, you're kinda crowding Greg out. Half the picture is you....and your hat. Don't let GQ magazine get a hold of this one! LOL

Re: Nice!

I have to crowd Greg out since he is such a good looking kid. Next summit we do together, I'll have Greg hold the camera and even the score. And btw, it'd be ARRP that would be interested in this shot, not GQ.
