All Around, here you can find nice hikes. Nothing really hard, and nice views, specially in fall.

Route Climbed: Drove up the road Date Climbed: May 2005

Nice views on the drive up to the top!

I've driven up to Spruce Knob twice. Once on labor day in 2001 and again on Memorial day weekend 2005.

Route Climbed: drive-up Date Climbed: September 24, 2005  Sucess!

One of the roads was closed, so took the saw-mill run road. No view whatsoever on the top. Totally foggy. Interesting trees though.

Route Climbed: straight up through bush and all Date Climbed: Summer 1999  Sucess!

A night before, I drank too much, and in the morning I had a terrible hangover. I puked until noon.

My companions left for the Spruce Knob summit without me, and they walked on the road (you know, there is a road right to the summit).

Then something inside me told me I had to get moving to get better, so I stood up, picked up a bottle of water, and went on. I was about an hour behind my friends, so I decided to fuck the road and go straight up through woods, swamp, bush, rock, etc. Guess what... I was on the summit an hour before my friends got there!

I got it confirmed again: if you are sick, or confused, or in a bad mood, get your ass together and get moving, and everything will normalize.

Route Climbed: Summit Road to trail Date Climbed: July and Oct (twice) 98', July 99'  Sucess!

Never signed the summit log due to the fact that my car went up 99% of the mountain. Loop trail though has great views.

Route Climbed: Uh, We walked from the car to the observation tower Date Climbed: April 21, 2001  Sucess!

Well, this was my second high point. West Virginia is very beautiful and if you catch it on a clear day it is very panoramic. I didn't, so my wife and I were treated to high winds and lots of fog. God is so creative in His creation.

Well, I guess this wasn't really a climb, but hey, it's another highpoint. Good views, nice country.

Route Climbed: Post Seneca car ride Date Climbed: summer 80 or 81  Sucess!

I was the passenger and remember the drive up from the Germany Valley up the slopes through a beautiful if second growth white oak forest. Good views over east toward Nelson or Champe Rocks.

Route Climbed: The standard short walk from the car... Date Climbed: June 20, 2003  Sucess!

I'd been meaning to actually climb this one, but all available trails are quite long and there's this nice road right up to the summit. anyway, tack on another state highpoint. Lovely.

Went on a field trip with my classmates... most just horsed around but a few of us were actually interested in getting to the top... nice views.

Michael and I set out to climb the highest point of West Virginia and Maryland this day. The fall colors were close to peak around here. The drive up the gravel forest road enchanted us with the pure nonstop yellows. It did seem like a long drive.

Route Climbed: Main Trail from Parking Lot Date Climbed: October 15, 2002  Sucess!

It was an easy hike from the parking lot to the summit despite the cold drizzle that blanketed the region. The loop trail around the summit "knob" reminds me of "home" back in the Colorado high country. The rocky outcrops with the pine trees are common features in Colorado's Rocky Mountains. On clear days, the view from here is spectacular. I always enjoy visiting Spruce Knob. Some day I would like to take the trail to make it a legitimate climb.

Route Climbed: parking lot to summit Date Climbed: 10/19/02  Sucess!

very windy at the top. My little pickup truck was rocking in the wind. I came up the back road from the north. This was my 3rd state highpoint for the day.

Route Climbed: From the parking lot near the summit Date Climbed: June 15, 2002  Sucess!

State highpoint #9. It can get very windy and cold on the summit. Most of the trees have leaves on one side only due to the constant wind. There is an observation tower with great 360 degree views of the surrounding hills.
