Easy morning hike. Not much in the way of views.
on a trail run day. Went up the road to the summit with Maddie, then we ran down the trail. I was tired and grumpy on my way up, but there is nothing a Texas Ruby Red grapefruit can't fix! Another overgrown, tower covered summit though.
Close encounter with a porcupine was a nice addition.
I summited this peak while having an excellent November hiking.
Nice loop via the Bullitt Gorge and Phil Creek trails. Carried an extra 2 liters of water for weight.
Yup - been there, done that.
Nice walk in the trees with EastKing, who was conditioning for a future climb!! No views! Perfect for a rainy day but us it was sunny.
After snowshoeing to the summit of Taylor Mountain with EastKing and Curtis, and then dropping them off at their vehicle, I proceeded south of Issaquah to Squak Mountain. I snowshoed to the summit, with only light snowfall occurring, marking my completion of all of the major peaks found within the Issaquah Alps.
Road (mainly a trail run)...no views
A forest hike with a friend of mine, but it was the conversation that made it worth while.
Started at Red Town TH on Cougar, ran up and over Wilderness Peak, up and over the central summit of Squak, up and over Tiger, then up the Grand Ridge trail and down to my house.
Headed up by trail from the State Park parking area off May Valley Rd. and back down via the road. Good after-work conditioner!
Went up during my short stay living in Issaquah in 2002. Then again in 2012. The view is gone...see here Squak Mountain Maps
big radio tower on top
Walked the road on the way up and then took a trail on the way down.
