very sunny day, no one else on the mountain except me
parked at the end of plowing on Guanella Pass road and slept there in the car. The hike to the pass along the road was easy, but once above the past it was so windy! I had to crawl up in some section in order not to get blown off my balance.
I was looking for something quick to climb and this fits the bill. Nice enough hike but nothing spectacular. Thank god I was not climbing Bierstadt- there was an incredible number of cars at Guanella Pass on a weekday
Traversed over from Argentine with Rachael. Second time up.
From Guanella pass.
Beautiful day on Square Top!
Took a work meeting up to Guanella Pass and skinned up Square Top with a colleague. Summited, skied down, and pieced together a number of snowfields for a great ride. Sunny, 60's temps, light breeze.
Nice Day. Not much snow and not too windy.
Couldn't see much due to low clouds and snow.
From winter road closure. Square Top, Argentine, and Wilcox. Cold
With Rhett. Started at the road closure, summited Square Top, Argentine and Wilcox. We finished coming down the Silver Dollar Lake Rd. Made for a nice cirque.
This was a great trip. Started at Naylor Lake, hiked up to the ridge to the Squaretop, Argentine, then continued a very loong ridge to Edwards, went back to Argentine and finished on Wilcox. It got dark when I got back to the forest around Naylor Lake and there was mess of fallen trees and deep snow. Lots of postholing!! There was a very strong gusty wind on the summit of Square top that I could not stand, I'd say about 50 - 70 mph. It got better later.
With Erin and Derrill.
Did it from Guanella Pass on the Friday before Labor Day. Followed the trail to the lakes and went up from there. There was a crowd on Bierstadt, but we were just about the only ones on Square Top.
Good hike from Guanella Pass. From the trail turn off it gets steep...quick. Amazing views!
Needed something quick for such a beautiful morning. Lower lake thawed out!
Nice, quiet route that has nice views to the east. Chilly day, winter was on its way.
Looped these three from the Guanella closure. Went with Mike Smith, Mark Wilson, and Okie.
Great Day, except for the wind on the ridge. Had to put on Winter Gear. Took a different ridge down and escaped the wind. Great views in all directions as there were no clouds in the sky.
