Needed something quick for such a beautiful morning. Lower lake thawed out!
Nice, quiet route that has nice views to the east. Chilly day, winter was on its way.
Looped these three from the Guanella closure. Went with Mike Smith, Mark Wilson, and Okie.
Great Day, except for the wind on the ridge. Had to put on Winter Gear. Took a different ridge down and escaped the wind. Great views in all directions as there were no clouds in the sky.
Climbed as part of a "Gondwanaland" attempt. Snow conditions slowed us down and we bailed after Mount Edwards.
Daniela and I spend the night at the TH and left for the summit the following day. Good weather. We reached all the three summits because we couldn't figure out which one was actually the true summit.
The weather improved on the way down. This was our first thirteener. Very happy of our achievement. 6:30 RT.
Left Guanella Pass around 6:15 with only 20 or so cars in the parking lots. By the time I looked back around 7:30 it was more like 300. Descending into the basin just off the parking lot there was a little frost on the ground...Nice. I had the mountain all to myself; encountering people coming up once I was 30 minutes off the summit. Got in a nice glasade too.
Beautiful hike, summer is here at full speed,i really enjoyed this hike, late start but no complains!
Biked from Arvada and camped below Guanella Pass on Friday. Biked up from my camp to the Pass on Saturday morning and summited Squaretop. Biked home on Sunday.
Hiked this peak with the CMC. Our group included a 78 year old man! Great to see Sarah.Simon on the summit ridge with Deb and we all got a summit shot together! Great weather. A little bit windy on the way down but overall a great day!!
Enjoyed this pleasant day on the tundra with Deb. Still plenty of snow up top. We made a fine loop of this outting. Fantastic weather. Ran into ErikaRN on the summit ridge!
By the time I got to Guanella Pass at 7:45 there were already hordes of cars parked, but nobody was on their way to Square Top. I had this beautiful mountain to myself and I didn't miss the extra 200 feet! I ascended the SE ridge and descended the class 2 talus of the NE ridge.
I don't recall this one being too difficult, good views.
Together with Decatur (12,890 ft) and Argentine Peak (13,738), Square Top Mountain was one of the first peaks in Colorado I climbed. The date is just a guess - it was quite a long time ago. We camped at Shelf Lake, gained the ridge to the west, and then hiked the ridge to each of the high points.
Hiked up square top and argentine from Guanella pass - nice alternative to bierstadt and good views.
Rkymtn and I enjoyed a windy and cold day on Square Top. Didn't see anyone else till we got close to the parking lot. A good half day training climb.

This climb makes for a great training day. Beautiful weather and only 3 others on the mountain made for a great day.
Threw on a heavy pack with Haliku as a workout prior to endeavors south of the border.
This makes for a great, relatively easy winter outing (well, at least it did before they stopped plowing Guanella Pass). Terribly windy and cold up high as usual.
a late start and thunderstorms had us turning back just below the summit
