Howe Ridge  Sucess!

Finally decided to just do this one. Managed to squeeze it in after work before it got dark. Great views from the summit.

Stanton  Sucess!

06/04/18 w Ryan Stadheim and Ethan Meide

Wanted to go for Vaught - low visibility, freezing rain, high wind, and lots of remaining snow and ice on the ridge connecting the two turned us around.

Stanton  Sucess!

This was one of the hardest climbs/hikes I have every done. No views at the top due to clouds. Need to climb again on a much clearer day.

Stanton  Sucess!

My first glacier climb and almost my last. Helicoptered off the mountain after a fall on the snow. Heidi, Julie, and Alden were with me. I'll never forget it.

First of 2012  Sucess!

Spring 2012

This was my first peak of many Glacier summits in 2012. Climbed during opening crew with Josh, Sean, Anders, and Becky. We had stared at it for weeks from the Village Inn, our temporary home. This was my forth time on Howe Ridge, but first time to summit! Great views of the Lake area, and the Livingston Range!

Howe Ridge   Sucess!

Left the trail at its high point on Howe Ridge and made our way up the southwest ridge towards the summit. Encoutered a foot or so of crusty snow on the way. Spectacular views of Trout Lake along the ridge top - I was surprised to see Mount Cleveland and Mount Merritt far off in the distance. We descended a drainage that instersected the Trout Lake Trail about 1/2 mile from the trailhead - difficult descent! Slippery rocks, frozen screen, and detours around steep, icy waterfalls made for a tiring couple of hours down!

05/12/12 - with Rebecca Lahr, Josh Olson, Sean Doyle and Josh Terry. Bluebird skies and countless ladybugs on the summit.

05/12/13 - with Rebecca Lahr, Josh Olson and Drew Wilkerson. Glad Drew had a more uneventful trip this time around! Enormous avalanche debris pile over the Howe Ridge Trail no more than a mile from the trailhead was quite impressive. Would be interested to see how the NPS dealt with this immense mess.

Nice Walk, Awful Bugs  Sucess!

Solo climb on Fathers Day. Mosquitoes so thick I had to put on my wind breaker and pull the hood tight, could hear them bouncing off the nylon. But still a beautiful climb.
