Part of Loop with Cub Lake  Sucess!

Up from Hollowell Park TH. The burn area from last year's East Troublesome Fire is a sight to see. The south slopes were completely burned as well as the western slope. Fantastic 360 degree views of the Mummys, the Divide, Moraine Park, and Longs Peak. We descended the burnt out west slopes and met up with the trail to Cub Lake. Looped back to Hollowell Park on the Moraine Park stock trail.

Eastern slope  Sucess!

Started at the Hollowell Park Trailhead and headed up the eastern slope. Steep Mountain lives up to its name. Thought we reached the summit several times only to discover that we had further to go. Nice views from the summit. Was thinking of doing Mt. Wuh, but far too much snow so did Castle instead.

Bierstadt Lake TH  Sucess!

I wanted to visit a scenic lake as well in the park. Once I reached Bierstadt lake I had to lose elevation into Mill Creek Basin. There was quite a bit of snow in the basin and I didn't have my snowshoes with me. This made the ascent far more difficult than I had planned.

South Slopes from Mill Creek  Sucess!

This summit is one of my favorites for introducing new hikers to the joys of a nice summit view.

East Slope  Sucess!

Snowshoed the East Slope route from Hollowell Park Trailhead. The beginning of the ascent lived up to its name and was quite steep. The summit was extremely windy, but provided a great view of Stones Peak and the Continental Divide.
