Rain, then thunder ...
It started to drizzle just minutes before I got to the summit. Nothing serious, I thought, so I continued. No view on the top, so I spent maybe two minutes there.
Five minutes into the descent, the first distant thunder came ...
Fortunately, it stayed distant, and the drizzle stopped not much later either, but I was glad not to be on the summit anymore. Surprisingly, several hikers continued going up!
it was summer 2008, we started at Aljaz and ascended till bivak4, then Bovska vratca and Kriz, and finally, Stenar. It was high summer, but day before obviously snowed - it was full of little ice-balls, approaching bivak4.Stenar was in fog.Anyway, my favourite view is from Vrata valley, Stenar wall is really impressive.
We descended to Kriski Podi, I fell in love with the place a few years ago.

From Zadnjica valley
Fantastic hike from Zadnjica valley and great views on surrounding peaks. Overnight in winter room of Pogacnikov dom with little bit of snowfall during the night. :)

Route Climbed: from Pogacnikov dom
We started our day from Koča pri izviru Soče where we stayed over night. After a good and nice breakfast we proceeded towards Zadnjica where we parked our cars and started our ascent towards along Pogacnikov Dom at Kriski Podi plateau. After a short break, we decided to go directly to the Stenar summit via Dovška Vrata. The weather was great and the view even better.
We descended back to the mountain refuge, where we spent the night.

Was an early morning "hike", in order to be back down in Trenta in time. Had a great view of the surrounding peaks from the top. Kriski Podi is a must-return place...
Later than planned, but the return took place! After spending three nights in the Pogačnik Hut and visiting some of the nearby peaks, we said good-bye to this beautiful area by climbing Stenar via the normal route before returning to Aljažev dom.
