Good shot!

While it doesn't show spectacular scenery of the Eastern Sierra I think it's very informative. Until March last year I didn't realize how badly that road was getting hit. If I go again in the winter and even if I can drive part way up I will be very careful choosing the location to park my vehicle. It's also important to be aware of the danger while hiking on the road. I doubt those boulders fall in the middle of the night. Hope you guys had a good trip!

Re: Good shot!

Thanks Kris. Yes, I doubt that these boulders fall at night either. When we were passing them, we could occasionally hear the sound of sand and small rocks falling on the road. There are several very serious-looking boulders perched precariously above the road right now. I am sure that they will come down before the season is over, naturally or artifically. There are also two major avalanche paths crossing the road at switchbacks. One of them is HUGE.

Our trip was great despite us not reaching any summit. It is always fantastic to just be up there.
