Still Dreaming: Raudfjellet

Still Dreaming: Raudfjellet

Raudfjellet, 1014m (in NW corner of this map) – one of my dreams that never came true, surrounded by the ice of East and West Torell Glaciers. Central part of photo: tidal flat (left) and frontal moraine of Werenskiold Glacier (right).

Re: Brilliant

Thanks Borut! Not bad for a nearly 30 years old slide, I must admit:) As to the peak, it was a pity the others were not keen on climbing - in fact - I had to break the rules imposed by head of our little expedition to do any climbing:)

Re: Brilliant

LOL But it IS a heartbreak if you're just a few miles away from such a fine summit and you just can't touch it with your fingers.

Re: ibcredible

Carpathians remian most beloved ones, I think it won't change ever for myself...I notice one interesting thing that whenever I admire other mountain ranges of the world I always look for any "carpathian features" in them, and when I find them like in Canadian Rockies for example, I just fall in love, that's it! Carpathian rulezzz

Hey Tomek

Have you seen this brand-new result of brilliant trans-Carpathian cooperation you're taking part in?

What makes the

mountain impressive is the contrast between
the ice-field and the rolling, flatter terrain
of the tundra.

It took you nearly 30 years to find the slide?
This is our reward for waiting! Nice picture!!!

Re: What makes the

Given the date I posted my first Spitsbergen slides, it did take me about 30 weeks. And you're right again Larry, I think lack of patience was always my worst sin. I'm happy I'm making progress in this field in the end.:)

Re: So impressive

Thanks very much! It's one of my favourites out of what I've managed to save from that expedition.
