Stirje srcni mozje or four...

Stirje srcni mozje or four brave men are: Luka Korosec, Matija Kos, Stefan Rozic and Lovrenc Willomitzer. On August 26th 1778 they were the first to climb Triglav (2864m), what was quite a success for that time!

Their monument is placed in Ribcev Laz, at the eastern edge of Bohinj lake, from where they set off to this adventure. Tower behind is of famous Sveti Janez church.

Before Mont Blanc

Note, that the first ascent on Triglav was done even before the ascent on Mont Blanc. And in that time the ridge from Mali (Small) Triglav to the main summit was knife sharp so that parties were riding many parts of it. The ridge was much later demolished and so made as easy as it is now.
