Overview
Stontzi ("Στόντζι") is a marked climbing field on limestone rock just north of the village of Pades ("Πάδες"), one of the villages that act as trail-heads for Smolikas. The rock is located in amazing scenery between Smolikas and Timfi, with many routes for Intermediate to expert climbers.
The rock was fitted with bolts for sports climbing in 2009 after a large contribution of the villages cultural society and with the contribution of volunteers.
The best time to climb in the area is between April and November, with the best season being the summer since the elevation keeps the area cool. Due to the orientation of the rocks, it is also possible to climb all day long since one is East and one West resulting in at least one being on the shade all day.
Also, there is a freshwater spring directly next to the field.
Getting There
The rock is just north of the village of Pades, so after reaching the village head left and follow the signs saying 'Towards the climbing fields' you will reach a small church at (40.043936, 20.908148) from there you will have to walk for 2 mins to reach the base of the rock.Routes
