Solo ascent  Sucess!

Although the route crosses a glacier, I judged the conditions safe enough to go unroped. The first part over the glacier had so little snow, you could easily see the (few) crevasses. Higher up there was a bit more snow, enough to hide a dangerous crevasse if there was one, but since there were masses of tourists on guided trips, there was a trail as wide as a road. In one such guided group I counted no less than 39 people on one rope! Crazy...

I stayed on the trail, prodding a bit with my hiking poles as extra insurance whenever I thought prudent. I saw some crevasses that I easily stepped over, but didn't find any hidden crevasses. A fairly big, visible one was very close to where the glacier route reaches the rocky spur. The big trail went over it, but I decided to follow a different, smaller trail that went around it. Probably made by other independent climbers, roped up or not. Safer to go around than misjudge the jump, especially when alone.

The glacier was never steep and the temperature was well above freezing, so I left my crampons in my pack.

I descended to Spiterstulen.
