Summit View West

From Dantes Ridge-- the Death Valley salt pan and, at left, Telescope Peak, highpoint of the Panamint Range. It may not be apparent from this picture, but this is one of the world's greatest examples of extreme vertical relief. The salt pan bottoms out at -282' and Telescope Peak's elevation is 11,049'-- that is a difference of over 11,300 vertical feet. Don't strain your neck while you're looking up down there.
