pleasant ridge line
Two hour hike in from the Stokes State Park parking lot via the AT to the summit building. Nice fire tower on the approach and returned via the Sunrise Mountain Road which was gated and locked at this time of year, but the boulders near the gate are set so that if you are careful, you can drive directly between them with an average size vehicle. Only a few shreds of ice and snow in shaded patches.

Mother's Day Trek
Uneventful ascent via the Sunrise Mountain Road.
A more taxing route would be along the Appalacian Trail.
Next time.

Camping and a Hike
Climbed here as part of a camping trip in Stokes State Park. Very nice area, great views, was a little busy at the top but that was fine. Saw some bear tracks around our campsite but no actual bear sightings.

Lovely
Excellent views at the top, some of the best I've seen in NJ. Didn't help that I was quite sick and ran out of tissues on the way down. Not very pleasant, but I would definitely go again.
on our way to Bear Mountain during summers of '69, '70 and '71.

Culvers Gap to Sunrise via AT
Great afternoon hike. Almost bailed as I thought I was running low on time with earlier sunsets and a 6.5 mile return trip. Clicked on the GPS and saw we were only .91 miles away and made it to the top in less than 20 minutes. Great views, well worth the stop. All the people up there kind of freaked the dog out after all the silence prior to meeting the yellow trail.

great views
Love the almost 360 degree views, and the eastern vista is very cliff-esque, very nice peaceful hike.

I actually remember the sunrise from here standing in/under some kind of roof.

AT
Surprisingly nice area for a hike. There are some black fly problems in NJ though so don't forget the DEET.
