Sunrise on Mount Baker

Sunrise on Mount Baker

Looking behind us we could see Mount Baker glowing brightly, the entire night had been clear until now. To the left we could see a cloud head wall coming in which this view was striking yet very frightening at the same time. I wanted to take more time to capture the moment, but was on a precarious slope which capturing this photo required carefully turning around from my spot. Taken July 7, 2011 at 5:11 a.m. on Mount Shuksan near the Fisher Chimneys. To the left Sherman Peak can be seen in the photo.

Stunning!

Yet another reason for me to get north and explore!

Re: Stunning!

It's certainly worth while to go to the North Cascades, I hope to revisit this mountain some time soon. Mount Shuksan is certainly one of the great peaks in the area.
