Sunset Peak

The section of ridge between Catherine Pass and Sunset's summit, there is a narrow Class 3 rock spine. During the winter this area can be sketchy with wet, snow-covered rock. Instead, I chose to traverse underneath the rock spine and regain the ridge to the summit. Be careful with this approach, the slope is north facing and 38 degrees. It can slide big down a funnel on the north face, so make sure the slope is very stable. 12-23-06.
