Sycamore Valley Open Space Preserve

  SHERBURNE HILLS                  

 For this post i would like to bring the attention of a open space preserve that is split in two. The name of the area is Sycamore Valley Open Space Preserve, and its divided by a main road known as Camino Tassajara followed with large neighborhoods such as Wood Ranch. There are two sections of the preserve, there is Sherburne Hills and Short Ridge, however today i would like to focus on Sherburne Hills. I bring Sherburne Hills up because alot of people dont even know about its existence, because the park is divided by so many neighborhoods and schools people will often just look at Short Ridge as the main and only part of the park. Sherburne Hills is accessible by 3 roads via Wood Ranch (road names in list)

1.Northview Ct

2.Country Hills Ct 

3.Woodside Rd

The Sherburne Hills range is all mostly grass land with few to more trees down by Woodside Rd. Its a nice easy hike for the simple someone that wants to get out and enjoy the day, with rewarding views. There are 2 main trails Harvest Trail and Haymaker Trail, Harvest Trail starts from Northveiw Ct and Country Hills Ct the trail runs along the whole hills range and ends into a dead end into private property, Haymaker Trail comes off from Woodside Rd and merges into Harvest trail.

-Wildlife/ Ranged animals seen: Cattle, various wild birds including red tailed hawks and quails

-Interesting Landscapes: Just a lush essential set of rolling hills with the peaceful Sycamore Creek at the bottom

-Time: Starting time 3pm  Ending time 5pm
