Tables & Red Peaks

Tables & Red Peaks

Near the top of an inconspicuous peak named Stoły (1428m), literally Tables, on the edge of a pasture bearing the same name. In fact the name comes from the mining shafts under the pasture dug a couple of centuries ago when the Tatras were mined for iron, copper and other metals. The view is over the Kościeliska Valley towards Ciemniak (2096m) in the Czerwone Wierchy Massif (Red Peaks, on the left). Background: Tomanowy Wierch Polski (1977m, centre) and Smreczyński Wierch (2066m, far right).

Sorry, I was too busy

trying to put meat on the 'table' to comment
on this picture.

How deep is that valley? It looks like its
over 1000 meters deep! What an incredible
place to tend the flocks of sheep and get
some healthy exercise at the same time !!!

Re: Sorry, I was too busy

The bottom of the valley is just 400m below the Tables (but 1000m below the Red Peaks, Larry :)) The "tough grazing" you're talking about used to go on in the Tazka/Ciężka Valley – please see my/1st comment.
Cheers
