I had no clue that Illiniza Norte can have so much snow...

It is interesting to know that before the early 1980's, the peak was considered to be "permanently snowcapped". It's only is recent decades that it has ever been known to be bare. The maps I've seen and have still haven't been updated and still show the mountain with a permanent snowcap.

Hi Scott, I was there just a 4 days ago, and no snow at al... very bare mountain, still beautiful hike/scramble to the top...

I'm sure...

You'll see Illiniza Norte completely covered by snow in April. A different mountain from the one you hiked/scrambled last week.
