Grandfather Trail
Took the Grandfather Trail across from the Swinging Bridge parking area to Calloway Peak and back. My first time on top of Grandfather and won't be my last! What an amazing peak!
Signs, half-mile posts, and trail map did not agree with each other or with actual conditions.

Great Mountain
Summited all peaks multiple times. I went to App State, and would frequently visit the park. Definately a worthwhile destination.

Route Climbed: Grandfather Mtn Trail
Did the trail with my 15 year old son. Hot, humid and alot of work. The chute is unbelievable. We practically ran the whole way back due to thunder and lightning threatening from the SE. Great hike well worth the admission price.

Winter Fun
I had a great winter hike up the Profile Trail to MacRae peak. Plently of snow and ice and great clear winter views along the way.
Route Climbed: Grandfather mountain trail Date Climbed: July 2002
This is a great all day hike. It has some ladders and cables in place to help with the steepest parts. Lots of different scenery. Even though the owners of the mountain have turned it into a business it is still worth doing.
I loved MaCrae Peak.
I've hiked it twice, once in May 2001, and again in July 2002.
