Tara canyon

On the edge of Tara river canyon at its widest place, observed from the summit of Curovac (1625m). On the opposite side is Obzir (1868m) peak. Tiny dots below are scattered houses in Tepca village, while river is over 1000m below. On some places canyon is 1300m deep and 80km long. It is no wonder that it is called the European Colorado. Keep Tara wild!

Beautiful foto of a wonderful region. Hopefully Tara may stay as it is.

Thanks Klaus! I don't know if you read 'Tara' section on main page, there is real threat to Tara lately. Sadly there are always stupid idiots around so recently there are ideas to build a dam for hydro power plant on Tara! Considering that Tara and its canyon are world class attraction and immeasurable natural value, national park and area under protection from UNESCO this is nothing but sick idea worthy of war starting if it goes into realization. Currently there is action and petition signing in Monte Negro named Hocu Taru a ne Baru, which means I want Tara not a swamp! They already submerged in 70's nearby Piva river canyon, which was amazing as well.
