Walked to top of Taum Sauk after a week hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. Needless to say, after the high altitude huffing and puffing in RMNP, the walk to the top of TS was, literally, a walk in the park!

Beautiful hike with my beloved Aunt
My aunt is who told me about the highpointers club, so I did my first "official" one with her since joining, and this was it!
I thought I had logged it previously, but apparently hadn't!

Highpoint # 30
Thank you work for "gifting me" a business trip to St Louis! Took advantage of being in MO and drove to Taum Sauk State Park. Hiked the Mina Falls loop trail while I was there. Beautiful waterfall and lovely highpoint visit.

Nice little walk (#4)
On a business trip to Atlanta I decided to make a few detours on the way home. Stop number 4 was Taum Sauk Mountain. I was in a bit of a time crunch else I would have kept walking to the falls. Nice little hike and a few pictures later I was off.

Lots of other visitors at the highpoint and hiking the park trails. Short hike but it is wheelchair accessible. StHP #13

The latter part of high-point trip where we picked up four others, Taum Sauk was a nice reason not to take the slab all the way home.

Back to IL after a WI work trip where I learned of highpointing, looked up other HPs...and MO's was only a couple hours away, so made a quick day trip to check it out. Hiked the couple mile trail, not bad.

High Point #10
Had a busy weekend in Missouri! Cool, but drizzly short hike. Not many views but some nice foliage!
Walked over from the parking lot during a break in the rain. I didn’t expect the distance to the “highpoint” to be only 0.2 miles from the car! Hiked with Nick, our oldest, during a college visit weekend. Good times!

Breezy, cold day (around 24F), but not bad for a short hike. They built up the area nicely.

Took a little roadtrip for my 40th birthday to snag the 40th state highpoint. You can drive basically to the top of this one. You do get an enjoyable little walk to the actual marker, through a thicket of trees. But the hike to the falls is definitely a must. I thought that it was so fascinating that the quantity of water to make those falls, boils out of the ground, so close to the highest point in the state - year round!! Would love to get an inside few of the mountain and the water system to see where that water comes from.

One of the "weaker" US State Highpoints I have been too. I never would have thought I was on a mountain if I hadn't read on Wikipedia that Taum Sauk is a true mountain. It felt like a field. Fortunately the field is forested with many trees providing it with a saving grace. Further down the trail I found Mina Sauk Falls which weren't really running having only trickle flowing.
Why wouldn't I bag the state high point. Its a pretty place. 1/4 mile hike in a concrete path.

Finally successfully made the summit (last time we had to be rescued by rangers — but that's another story). Did this as a 2-day backpacking trip, so I'm putting the date that we actually reached the summit.
Once again, only 3 made it.

Second on this trip after coming down from Iowa. Cold, wet day with nobody around. The top area is nice enough, with a paved path. Have to admit that thoughts of breaking down in this area (a bit rough and scary at times) would bounce in and out of my mind. Just is what it is, I guess.
