Sheep / Taylor in a day  Sucess!

Slept overnight at Red Rock Lakes NWR campground at the base of Sheep Mtn 6/7/13. Woke up early next AM and drove a little ways up the road towards NWR office. Parked, bushwhacked up towards saddle right of peak, and did some technical rock climbing/bouldering to attain summit of Sheep Mtn. Once up top, traversed several miles across ridge to Taylor. Getting down was a bit sketchy, but followed an avy runout path covered in soft snow that approached 50+deg pitch at one point. Followed runoff to the road, back track past camp to vehicle. ~10mi round trip, very rewarding

Joe gets 2 holes in one  Sucess!

You can follow Taylor creek all the way to the saddle or make a confusing figure eight to add some extra challenge. Go Figure.

via Taylor Creek  Sucess!

Climbed on a sunny day in mid-May. A relatively easy but long hike. Twice on the summit ridge I took a step from firm snow onto a pocket of mush which collapsed under my foot, revealing a hole 15 or more feet deep - definitely got your attention.
