Temple on Tortugas
This temple honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe is on the summit of Tortugas Mountain (elev. 4,931 ft.) in southwestern New Mexico. Each December since 1914, the faithful have made an annual pilgrimmage to the top of Tortugas Mountain, a 28-mile round-trip trek through the desert originating at Tortugas Pueblo.
