Excellent ridge views on a bluebird day, can't wait to come back to the area.
In fast moving, drizzly clouds all day that eliminated all views. Somehow avoided the 300 people that we later found on Black Balsam.
Second mountain along a ridge line scamper of the Art Loeb trail.
Hiked north on Art Loeb. Nice views. Moved north to Grassy Cove.
Not high by Rocky Mountain standards but this traverse is airy and spectacular.
Via Art Loeb Trail nice outing included in a grab of Black Balsam, Tennent Mountain, Grassy Cove Top, Shining Rock & Sam Knob.
Hiked this with wife and some teens from youth group. Came up from Big East to Greasy ridge trail to Art Loeb. This was a side trip for lunch before heading to Shining Rock to camp.
This is the 2nd time I've been here but the 1st time with my wife and that made it extra special.
Great stop on the way to Shining Rock. Awesome views.
Great blueberry picking in August on this peak
By the time my girlfriend and I got to this peak, we were inside a cloud and it was lightly misting. We ate lunch and then I proposed to her while sitting on the summit rocks. It was wet and chilly but a memorable time.
Beautiful day with beautiful views.
Climbed 8 peaks in my first trip to the Blue Ridge & Smokies. Tennent and Sam Knob offered the best views of any. Will definitely return to climb some more of the "Southern Sixers" and lesser peaks. Fun!
Great views from the top! One of the better peaks I have seen in NC.
After pitching my tent in freezing rain the night before: temps hovering at freezing; dense fog/cloud creating 100% humidity levels; driving wind. Some have said the views resemble something from New England-- couldn't tell ya since I could only see 20 feet. Perhaps this was a good description of New England weather?
coming from Daniel Boone camp and Cold Mountain (split between two days) This part of the trail is much easier than that beginning at Deep Gap.
have climbed a few times.
A very cold day but well worth the hike! Great view from the top!!!
I was very thankful that this mountain had a sign on its summit so that you knew for sure you were there.
Just another 6000ft hill.
The view was gorgeous!! Stopped on top for a drink and a rest...then continued on to Flower Gap for camping.
