Stopped by chest deep snow at 8400m. No summits this year. First descent of K2's upper slopes, skied from the top of the bottleneck (8350) down to camp 3 (7300m), rappelled the Black Pyramid and House Chimney, skied from bottom of House chimney(6500m) to ABC (5200m). 8,200ft vertical skied, another 2,000ft rappelled.

Summer 2006

We attempted the regular route of K2 on summer 2006. Conditions where somewhat stable and good, but the high heat resulted in many avalanches and lots of rock falls. My role was to film and photograph the expedition. We bailed after camp 2, for numerous reasons. The avalanche that swept 4 Russians off the mountain did affect our moral. Still, the Japanese Yuka & Tatsuya and the Italians Nives & Romano did get to the summit that year. Proving that it was feasible. Will I return? Maybe one day, but no in the near future.
