The wonderful and unique Alava Bate Sanctuary from the alpine bench below the summit block of Waring Peak.
Mt Bate on the left. Then Mt Alava, the long Tlupana Ridge, Thumb Peak and, just peeping over the ridge between Thumb Peak and the Thumb gendarme, is the summit of Mt Grattan.
