The Badlands Wall

The Badlands Wall

This is referred to as The Badlands Wall. It's in Badlands National Park, SD, and was considered a difficult part of the journey west in the late 1800s and early 1900s. If you visit the park, you'll likely see photos of people using ropes and winches to hoist their covered wagons and model-A cars up and over it. My son, Curtis, and I approached the Badlands from the south (rather than the more usual along I-90) and had this very dramatic view of The Badlands Wall across the Buffalo National Grasslands. Imaged in July 2000.
