Different formations...

The Bishop is primarily what you are discussing here :

It is an important rock in regards to technical climbing history, in particular Colorado climbing history. Ellingwood Chimney is a classic test piece.

"Bishop Rock" is what the 8,260' (interpolation) closed contour summit is "named". It is a ranked peak with >300' of prominence.
