Loved the Cables  Sucess!

I climbed the cables on the outside, bypassing the traffic jam in the middle, much quicker, especially on the way down.

Cables  Sucess!

Took my coworker to the summit of HD via cables. We started at around 5am and summited within 4 hours. After taking a much needed nap on the summit, wook about 3 hours to get back to the car. It was rather depressing to watch the incredible amount of trash on the trail and the summit itself, left behind by hordes of tourists. Fortunately, the scenery there is hard to beat and it was still quite enjoyable. My 3rd time to the top of this 'big rock'

Buffy and Me  Sucess!

My sister and I climbed this in the summer of 1974. The bears got our food above Nevada Falls (this was before the day of bear boxes, and the bears knew to hang on ropes found in trees until the food bag flipped over the branch or the rope broke), but we were not to be denied that photo on the overhang at the summit. 5000 ft of nothing but air!!! Whahooooooooo

Great day  Sucess!

the cables allow one to get to an awesome place without climbing gear, sort of strange, using cables to climb a rock, but i really enjoyed it! and the static in the air was a plus!

Cables  Sucess!

Sure it's a trade route, but damn was it fun. Almost deserted so I practiced slabbing in light hikers and did pretty good. Don't know that I'd free solo it but I probably could. I've got to get to some european via ferratas.

The Cables  Sucess!

The last effort to the summit after the long hike from Yosemite Valley.

Yosemite at its finest  Sucess!

A can't miss hike for the adventuresome. My better half had this idea the previous year in Yosemite and so with the kids in camp, to Half Dome we went! I anally research most of my high country adventures so I knew what I was getting into with the cables. However, my wife did not. Not comfortable with heights, she decided to wait it out in the high meadow before the shoulder.

I trudged forward and had a good amount of company on the cables, but not too bad. Steady progress at first, but slowed dramatically about 300 feet up. Seems we got stuck behind some poor woman who decided to call it quits about 100 feet from the top. After I flew past her there was nobody else to contend with on the cables. Was not crowded at all on the way down and for a change it was less intimidating coming down then going up. Made it back to Happy Isles before dinner, round-trip of about 10 1/2 hours. Thing I was happiest about was that I made it to the top only 2 months after my second knee surgery.

One other thing that strikes me as odd is the amount of people with a Walmart fanny pack and cheap sandals who head towards the summit. Wonder what their feet look like the next day. Hmmm...
