As our Cessina passed over the upper Traleika icefall and crossed Traleika Col, we were treated to a wonderful view of the East Buttress of Mount McKinley.

Unusual Buttress View

I found Bernard's picture of Denali's East Buttress hard to recognize. I am very familiar with the Buttress as I climbed it in 1977. Google Earth helped me understand the view. Its from the NNE and the buttress summit is some distance behind the apparent peak. We made the 2nd ascent of the buttress from the NW fork of the Ruth Glacier.
