The feak mirror of a broken leaf

A Pyrenean oak leaf floated on the water of a fountain in La Granja gardens. La Granja is located below Peñalara and was a Royal Residence of Felipe V in the 18th Century. 19 November 2006.

Robur- you can verify this if it has a slight recurve where the base of the leaf meets the stem.

Well, I think it's not a Quercus robur leaf, it is Quercus pyrenaica. I've noticed it after consulting some books on trees and the site below.

The botanical reference with its good map. This tree is much more wide spread in Spain than its name would suggest.

Yep desainme, though I've found it (google) as melojo oak. That's because we name it melojo. It's also known as rebollo or roble negral.
