The Filial Church of St. Philip and St. Jacob in Sękowa

The Filial Church of St. Philip and St. Jacob in Sękowa is one of the most precious wooden churches in Małopolska, and was entered onto the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2003. It was erected in 1520 from hand-cut larch-wood logs. In the C18th a spire and extensive covered veranda (exonarthex) were added. The church surface, with the exception of the bell-house, is covered by shingles, which enhances the picturesque appeal of the building’s mass. The current fittings include a late-renaissance main altar from the early C17th, reconstructed in 1948-49 after its destruction in 1915. The Low Beskid - Sękowa – Oktober 12, 2014.

I'm gonna have to bite...

I am going to come out and say this, and I apologize for doing so, but this photo, along with other similar photos, do not belong on SummitPost. This website is meant for providing beta for hiking and climbing mountains and this photo does not add any relevance to the site, and especially looks bad when featured as POD. This goes for everyone; please consider what you upload to this site regarding photos and ask yourself if it will provide relevance and be useful for users looking for information. Thank you

Re: I'm gonna have to bite...

Matt, I fully understand what you mean, but from my point of view, I don't see it as being entirely inappropriate to shed light also on the cultural side of a region - in this case, the Carpathian Mountains - that one is writing about. I myself rather rarely post photos of the villages or architectural points of interest in regions I post albums or pages about, but for instance when I put together my album of the Valais last year, I felt it would not have been complete without the one or two photos of the old village of Zinal as well. I'm always grateful when people show, amongst what should be the main focus on SP, namely the mountains and the information as to access to them, also the other aspects of the area they are telling and showing us pictures of. This makes the general impression really complete! This is something I have found already right from the start...
Cheers, Matt,
Eric
